Meet Meryl

Okay. We're back. It's been a while.
I've been re-evaluating my film a lot over the past few weeks. Something didn't feel quite as authentic to my filmmaking style, I felt as if I was missing something when I was working on 'Circuits'. Back at the drawing board, I went over my initial plan from back in April. I felt that there was something simplistic and mundane about the way that my film was developing.
The original idea had been a monster in a lighthouse, and I decided to revisit that. I felt that maybe that wasn't an impossible thing to do, as monster theory is really interesting to me and the monster character adds a lot to a film. So I developed Meryl, a lighthouse keeper with a monstrous face that isolates themself.
The plot will still explore human connection and light will still be heavily involved, but I think I've added an element that is true to my filmmaking style.
In the above experiment, I endeavoured to show a sequence of Meryl in their home and show the pasttimes they go through to keep themselves entertained alone in the lighthouse. In addition to that, the fascination with light comes into play in this sequence as well.
