My original plan narrative-wise revolved around a lighthouse. My best friend once told me a story about a boy who lived on an island and didn't go to the mainland until he was a couple of years old. Upon seeing trees, he asked, 'Look at those tall flowers!'

I became obsessed with lighthouses after hearing that story, writing a script about a girl who lived on an island in her grandparent's lighthouse. The lighthouse represented a romanticised youth, a past that was no longer attainable. I realise now that this had a lot to do with the way I looked at my youth.

This idea followed me as I wrote the proposal, which revolved around a lighthouse setting. Knowing this might not be entirely feasible, I was asked to think about what the light in the lighthouse represents, and attempt to form a narrative around that.

It's taken me a while to think of an idea, but last week (conveniently enough, after my presentation), I thought of the idea of a light going out. Then, this evolved into someone stealing someone's light- quite literally, though it can also be taken figuratively.

Fairylights outside of the Lebowski bar

The idea of someone stealing someone's lightbulbs from their house. The lightbulbs work as an allegory for positivity, happiness and mental wellbeing. Someone stealing them is showing how people negatively impact other people's lives.

The person stealing the lightbulbs would have a string of lights around their body, much like the lights pictured to the right.
