This past week, I've begun experimenting with narrative. While I have the concept of my film worked out, I'm struggling with what I want to focus on narratively. I'm hovering towards the story of a family and how relationships work between them, and wrote a short script on a couple with issues between them. Here is the final product.
I regret not spending more time on the cinematography- I thought it would have an interesting effect to have it all be filmed straight from the front, but in retrospect I think this was a little dull. Additionally, the sound wasn't very good, though the main reason for this was that I didn't plan very well and didn't have an extra helping hand on set to hold a boompole.
When showing it in class, a classmate mentioned that it might have been more interesting if the conversation hadn't been about lights, and that instead the lights around them died. I think I'm going to try this for my next experiment, and see what kind of effect that has.
